Proverbs 19:4-6

⁴Wealthy people are always finding more friends,
but the poor lose all theirs.

⁵A witness who lies will not go ·free [unpunished];
liars will never escape.

⁶Many people ·want to please [^Lseek the face of] a leader,
and everyone is friends with those who give gifts.

Proverbs 19:4-6

⁴Wealth attracts many friends,
but even the closest friend of the poor person deserts them.^(A)
