21 My son, [b](D)fear the Lord and the king;
Do not get involved with those [c]of high rank,
22 For their (E)disaster will rise suddenly,
And who knows the ruin that can come from both of them?

21 Fear the Lord and the king,(B) my son,
    and do not join with rebellious officials,
22 for those two will send sudden destruction(C) on them,
    and who knows what calamities they can bring?
