Proverbs 27:12-14

Good News Translation

¹²Sensible people will see trouble coming and avoid it, but an unthinking person will walk right into it and regret it later.

¹³Any people stupid enough to promise to be responsible for a stranger's debts^[a] deserve to have their own property held to guarantee payment.

¹⁴You might as well curse your friends as wake them up early in the morning with a loud greeting.

Proverbs 27:12-14

New International Version

¹²The prudent see danger and take refuge,
but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.^(A)

¹³Take the garment of one who puts up security for a stranger;
hold it in pledge if it is done for an outsider.^(B)

¹⁴If anyone loudly blesses their neighbor early in the morning,
it will be taken as a curse.
