Proverbs 29:24-26

Good News Translation

²⁴A thief's partner is his own worst enemy. He will be punished if he tells the truth in court, and God will curse him if he doesn't.

²⁵It is dangerous to be concerned with what others think of you, but if you trust the Lord, you are safe.

²⁶Everybody wants the good will of the ruler, but only from the Lord can you get justice.

Proverbs 29:24-26

New International Version

²⁴The accomplices of thieves are their own enemies;
they are put under oath and dare not testify.^(A)

²⁵Fear^(B) of man will prove to be a snare,
but whoever trusts in the Lord^(C) is kept safe.^(D)

²⁶Many seek an audience with a ruler,^(E)
but it is from the Lord that one gets justice.^(F)

²⁴Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.

²⁵The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.

²⁶Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the Lord.
