There are four things that are never satisfied:

16 the world of the dead,
a woman without children,
dry ground that needs rain,
and a fire burning out of control.

17 If you make fun of your father or despise your mother in her old age,[a] you ought to be eaten by vultures or have your eyes picked out by wild ravens.

“There are three things that are never satisfied,(A)
    four that never say, ‘Enough!’:
16 the grave,(B) the barren womb,
    land, which is never satisfied with water,
    and fire, which never says, ‘Enough!’

17 “The eye that mocks(C) a father,
    that scorns an aged mother,
will be pecked out by the ravens of the valley,
    will be eaten by the vultures.(D)
