²² “How long, O ^(A)simple ones, will you love being simple?
How long will ^(B)scoffers delight in their scoffing
    and fools ^(C)hate knowledge?

³⁴ Towards the ^(A)scorners he ^(B)is scornful,
    ^(C)but to the humble he gives favour.^[a]

²⁹ Condemnation is ready for ^(A)scoffers,
    and ^(B)beating for the backs of fools.

^24 (A)“Scoffer” is the name of the arrogant, haughty man
    who acts with arrogant pride.

^8 (A)Scoffers set a city aflame,
    but the wise turn away wrath.

¹⁴ Therefore hear the word of the Lord, you ^(A)scoffers,
    who rule this people in Jerusalem!
