²⁶ This is what the Lord God says:

¹¹ For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”^(A)

¹⁴ I tell you, this one went down to his house justified^(A) rather than the other; because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”^(B)

⁶ But He gives greater grace. Therefore He says:

¹⁰ Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.

⁵ In the same way, you younger men, be subject to the elders. And all of you clothe yourselves with^[a] humility toward one another, because

⁶ Humble^(B) yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand^(C) of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time,^[c]
