¹⁰Some sat in darkness,^(A) in utter darkness,
prisoners suffering^(B) in iron chains,^(C)

¹¹Because they had rebelled against the words of God and spurned the counsel of the Most High.

¹¹because they rebelled^(A) against God’s commands
and despised^(B) the plans^(C) of the Most High.
