15 (A)They shall give thanks to the Lord for His mercy,
And for His [a]wonders to the sons of mankind!
16 For He has (B)shattered gates of bronze
And cut off bars of iron.

17 Fools, because of [b]their rebellious way,
And (C)because of their guilty deeds, were afflicted.

15 Let them give thanks(A) to the Lord for his unfailing love(B)
    and his wonderful deeds(C) for mankind,
16 for he breaks down gates of bronze
    and cuts through bars of iron.

17 Some became fools(D) through their rebellious ways(E)
    and suffered affliction(F) because of their iniquities.
