98 [a]Your precept has given me greater wisdom than my enemies,
    for it is mine forever.
99 I am wiser than all my teachers
    because I meditate on your commands.
100 I have greater insight than the elders,[b]

  1. Psalm 119:98 These verses are illuminated by the New Testament, which shows that heavenly wisdom is a gift to “little children,” hidden from the worldly wise (see Lk 10:21; 1 Cor 1:18ff; 2:6-10).
  2. Psalm 119:100 The psalmist speaks in the same vein as Elihu (see Job 32:6ff; Wis 4:9). Elders: the aged, taught by experience.
