6 The words of the Lord are pure words,
like silver refined in an earthen furnace,
purified seven times.(A)

7 You, Lord, will guard us;[a]
you will protect us[b] from this generation forever.(B)
8 The wicked prowl[c] all around,
and what is worthless is exalted by the human race.(C)

    like silver purified(B) in a crucible,(C)
    like gold[a] refined seven times.

7 You, Lord, will keep the needy safe(D)
    and will protect us forever from the wicked,(E)
8 who freely strut(F) about
    when what is vile is honored by the human race.
