Footnotes

  1. Psalm 16:2 Some of you Literally, “you” (singular). Most translations assume it should be “I,” giving a different meaning to verses 2 and 3, which are very difficult in the Hebrew text.
  2. Psalm 16:3 gods Literally, “holy ones.”

I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;(A)
apart from you I have no good thing.”(B)
I say of the holy people(C) who are in the land,(D)
“They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”
Those who run after other gods(E) will suffer(F) more and more.
I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods
or take up their names(G) on my lips.
