⁹ When you appear for battle,
    you will burn them up as in a blazing furnace.
The Lord will swallow them up in his wrath,
    and his fire will consume them.^(A)

¹² The peoples will be burned to ashes;^(A)
    like cut thornbushes^(B) they will be set ablaze.^(C)”

¹⁴ Surely they are like stubble;^(A)
    the fire^(B) will burn them up.
They cannot even save themselves
    from the power of the flame.^(C)
These are not coals for warmth;
    this is not a fire to sit by.
