⁴ Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,^(A)
    I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
    your rod and your staff comfort me.

⁷ He shall not fear an ill report;
    his heart is steadfast, trusting the Lord.
⁸ His heart is tranquil, without fear,
    till at last he looks down on his foes.

²³ Then you may go your way securely;
    your foot will never stumble;
²⁴ When you lie down, you will not be afraid,
    when you rest, your sleep will be sweet.

¹ The wicked flee though none pursue;
    but the just, like a lion, are confident.
