⁴ May those who seek my life^(A)
    be disgraced^(B) and put to shame;^(C)
may those who plot my ruin
    be turned back^(D) in dismay.
⁵ May they be like chaff^(E) before the wind,
    with the angel of the Lord^(F) driving them away;
⁶ may their path be dark and slippery,
    with the angel of the Lord pursuing them.

⁷ Since they hid their net^(G) for me without cause^(H)
    and without cause dug a pit^(I) for me,
⁸ may ruin overtake them by surprise—^(J)
    may the net they hid entangle them,
    may they fall into the pit,^(K) to their ruin.

“May their table become a snare and a trap,
    a stumbling block and a retribution for them.
¹⁰ May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see,^(A)
