Psalm 35:7-9
Contemporary English Version

7 I did them no harm,
but they hid a net
    to trap me,
and they dug a deep pit
    to catch and kill me.
8 (A) Surprise them with disaster!
    Trap them in their own nets
and let them fall and rot
    in the pits they have dug.

9 I will celebrate and be joyful
because you, Lord,
    have saved me.

7 Since they hid their net(A) for me without cause(B)
    and without cause dug a pit(C) for me,
8 may ruin overtake them by surprise—(D)
    may the net they hid entangle them,
    may they fall into the pit,(E) to their ruin.
9 Then my soul will rejoice(F) in the Lord
    and delight in his salvation.(G)
