Psalm 40:2-4
New Life Version

2 He brought me up out of the hole of danger, out of the mud and clay. He set my feet on a rock, making my feet sure. 3 He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and will put their trust in the Lord.

4 How happy is the man who has made the Lord his trust, and has not turned to the proud or to the followers of lies.

2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,(A)
    out of the mud(B) and mire;(C)
he set my feet(D) on a rock(E)
    and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song(F) in my mouth,
    a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord(G)
    and put their trust(H) in him.

4 Blessed is the one(I)
    who trusts in the Lord,(J)
who does not look to the proud,(K)
    to those who turn aside to false gods.[a](L)
