Psalm 40:2-4
Living Bible

2 He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out from the bog and the mire, and set my feet on a hard, firm path, and steadied me as I walked along. 3 He has given me a new song to sing, of praises to our God. Now many will hear of the glorious things he did for me, and stand in awe before the Lord, and put their trust in him. 4 Many blessings are given to those who trust the Lord and have no confidence in those who are proud or who trust in idols.

New International Version

2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,(A)
    out of the mud(B) and mire;(C)
he set my feet(D) on a rock(E)
    and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song(F) in my mouth,
    a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord(G)
    and put their trust(H) in him.

4 Blessed is the one(I)
    who trusts in the Lord,(J)
who does not look to the proud,(K)
    to those who turn aside to false gods.[a](L)
