3 O Lord my God, if I have done [a]this thing, if there be any wickedness in mine hands,

4 [b]If I have rewarded evil unto him that had peace with me, (yea I have delivered him that vexed me without cause.)

5 Then let the enemies persecute my soul, and take it: yea, let him tread my life down upon the earth, and lay mine [c]honor in the dust. Selah.

3 Lord my God, if I have done this
    and there is guilt on my hands(A)—
4 if I have repaid my ally with evil
    or without cause(B) have robbed my foe—
5 then let my enemy pursue and overtake(C) me;
    let him trample my life to the ground(D)
    and make me sleep in the dust.[a](E)
