Psalm 78:37-39

37 For their [a]heart was not upright with him: neither were they faithful in his covenant.
38 Yet he being merciful, [b]forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not, but oft times called back his anger, and did not stir up all his wrath.
39 For he remembered that they were flesh: yea, a wind that passeth and cometh not again.

New International Version
37 their hearts were not loyal(A) to him,
they were not faithful to his covenant.

and did not destroy them.
Time after time he restrained his anger(E)
and did not stir up his full wrath.
39 He remembered that they were but flesh,(F)
a passing breeze(G) that does not return.
