37 For their heart was not steadfast with Him,
Nor were they faithful in His covenant.
38 (A)But He, being full of (B)compassion, forgave their iniquity,
And did not destroy them.
Yes, many a time (C)He turned His anger away,
And (D)did not stir up all His wrath;
39 For (E)He remembered (F)that they were but flesh,
(G)A breath that passes away and does not come again.

they were not faithful to his covenant.

and did not destroy them.
Time after time he restrained his anger(E)
and did not stir up his full wrath.
39 He remembered that they were but flesh,(F)
a passing breeze(G) that does not return.
