    when they see me, they ^(B)wag their heads.

¹⁴ You have made us ^(A)a byword among the nations,
    ^(B)a laughing-stock^[a] among the peoples.

“She despises you, she scorns you—
    ^(A)the virgin daughter of Zion;
she ^(B)wags her head behind you—
    the daughter of Jerusalem.

    the daughter of Jerusalem.

¹⁵ All who pass along the way
    clap their hands at you;
^(A)they hiss and wag their heads
    at the daughter of Jerusalem:
“Is this the city that was called
    ^(B)the perfection of beauty,
    ^(C)the joy of all the earth?”
