The Woman and the Beast

17 ^(A)Then one of the ^(B)seven angels who have the ^(C)seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying, “Come here, I will show you ^(D)the judgment of the ^(E)great harlot who ^(F)sits on many waters,

⁹ Then ^(A)he *said to me, “^(B)Write, ‘^(C)Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’” And he *said to me, “^(D)These are true words of God.” ¹⁰ Then ^(E)I fell at his feet to worship him. ^(F)But he *said to me, “^[a]Do not do that! I am a ^(G)fellow slave with you and your brothers who ^(H)have the witness of Jesus. Worship God! For the witness of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

The Rider on a White Horse

¹¹ Then I saw ^(I)heaven opened, and behold, a ^(J)white horse, and He who sits on it is called ^(K)Faithful and True, and in ^(L)righteousness He judges and wages war. ¹² His ^(M)eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many ^(N)diadems; having a ^(O)name written on Him which no one knows except Himself, ¹³ and being clothed with a ^(P)garment dipped in blood, His name is also called ^(Q)The Word of God. ¹⁴ And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in ^(R)fine linen, ^(S)white and clean, were following Him on white horses. ^15 (T)And from His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may ^(U)strike down the nations, and He will ^[b](V)rule them with a rod of iron; and ^(W)He treads the wine press of the wrath of the rage of God, the Almighty. ¹⁶ And He has on His garment and on His thigh ^(X)a name written, “^(Y)KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

¹⁷ Then I saw ^[c]an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to ^(Z)all the birds which fly in ^(AA)midheaven, “^(AB)Come, assemble for the great supper of God, ¹⁸ so that you may ^(AC)eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of ^[d]commanders and the flesh of strong men and the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them and the flesh of all men, ^(AD)both free men and slaves, and ^(AE)small and great.”

¹⁹ Then I saw ^(AF)the beast and ^(AG)the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war with Him who ^(AH)sits on the horse and with His army.

The Beast and False Prophet Are Seized

²⁰ And the beast was seized, and with him the ^(AI)false prophet who ^(AJ)did the signs ^[e](AK)in his presence, by which he ^(AL)deceived those who had received the ^(AM)mark of the beast and those who ^(AN)worshiped his image. These two were thrown alive into the ^(AO)lake of ^(AP)fire which burns with ^[f]brimstone. ²¹ And the rest were killed with the sword which ^(AQ)came from the mouth of Him who ^(AR)sits on the horse, and ^(AS)all the birds were filled with their flesh.

^9 (A)Then one of the seven angels who have the ^(B)seven bowls ^[a]full of the ^(C)seven last plagues came and spoke with me, saying, “^(D)Come here, I will show you the ^(E)bride, the wife of the Lamb.”

¹⁶ “^(A)I, Jesus, sent ^(B)My angel to bear witness to you of these things ^[a](C)for the churches. I am ^(D)the root and the ^(E)descendant of David, the bright ^(F)morning star.”
