8 And I looked, and there was a pale green[a] horse. The horseman on it was named Death, and Hades was following after him. Authority was given to them[b](A) over a fourth of the earth, to kill by the sword, by famine, by plague, and by the wild animals of the earth.
The Fifth Seal
9 When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the people[c] slaughtered because of God’s word and the testimony they had.[d](B) 10 They cried out with a loud voice: “Lord,[e] the One who is holy and true, how long until You judge and avenge our blood from those who live on the earth?”

8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse!(A) Its rider was named Death, and Hades(B) was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.(C)
9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under(D) the altar(E) the souls of those who had been slain(F) because of the word of God(G) and the testimony they had maintained. 10 They called out in a loud voice, “How long,(H) Sovereign Lord,(I) holy and true,(J) until you judge the inhabitants of the earth(K) and avenge our blood?”(L)

8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
