⁶ but having gifts that ^(A)differ according to the grace given to us: whether ^(B)prophecy, ^[a]in agreement with the faith; ⁷ or ^[b](C)service, in his serving; or he who ^(D)teaches, in his teaching; ⁸ or he who ^(E)exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with ^[c](F)generosity; ^(G)he who ^[d]leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with ^(H)cheerfulness.

⁹ Let ^(I)love be without hypocrisy—by ^(J)abhorring what is evil, clinging to what is good, ¹⁰ being ^(K)devoted to one another in brotherly love, ^[e]giving preference to one another ^(L)in honor, ¹¹ not lagging behind in diligence, being ^(M)fervent in spirit, ^(N)serving the Lord, ^12 (O)rejoicing in hope, ^(P)persevering in affliction, being ^(Q)devoted to prayer, ^13 (R)contributing to the needs of the ^[f]saints, ^(S)pursuing hospitality.

^14 (T)Bless those who persecute ^[g]you; bless, and do not curse. ^15 (U)Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep, ¹⁶ by ^(V)being of the same mind toward one another, ^(W)not being haughty in mind, but ^[h]associating with the humble. ^(X)Do not be wise in your own mind. ^17 (Y)Never paying back evil for evil to anyone, ^[i](Z)respecting what is good in the sight of all men, ¹⁸ if possible, ^(AA)so far as it depends on you, ^(AB)being at peace with all men, ^19 (AC)never taking your own revenge, beloved—instead ^[j]leave room for the wrath of God. For it is written, “^(AD)Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. ²⁰ “^(AE)But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” ²¹ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

¹¹ But one and the same Spirit works all these things, ^(A)distributing to each one individually just as He wills.

⁴ There is ^(A)one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one ^(B)hope of your calling; ^5 (C)one Lord, one faith, one baptism; ⁶ one God and Father of all ^(D)who is over all and through all and in all.

⁷ But ^(E)to each one of us ^(F)grace was given ^(G)according to the measure of Christ’s gift. ⁸ Therefore ^[a]it says,

⁹ (Now this expression, “He ^(J)ascended,” what ^[b]does it mean except that He also ^[c]descended into ^(K)the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He who descended is Himself also He who ascended ^(L)far above all the heavens, so that He might ^(M)fill all things.) ¹¹ And He Himself ^(N)gave ^(O)some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as ^(P)evangelists, and some as pastors and ^(Q)teachers, ^12 (R)for the equipping of the ^[d]saints for the work of service, to the building up of ^(S)the body of Christ, ¹³ until we all attain to ^(T)the unity of the faith, and of the ^[e](U)full knowledge of the Son of God, to a ^(V)mature man, to the measure of the stature ^[f]which belongs to the ^(W)fullness of Christ, ¹⁴ so that we are ^(X)no longer to be children, ^(Y)tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by ^(Z)craftiness ^[g]in ^(AA)deceitful scheming, ¹⁵ but ^[h]speaking the truth ^(AB)in love, ^[i]we are to ^(AC)grow up in all aspects into Him who is the ^(AD)head, that is Christ, ¹⁶ from whom ^(AE)the whole body, being joined and held together ^[j]by what every joint supplies, according to the properly ^(AF)measured working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself ^(AG)in love.

Put On the New Man

^17 (AH)Therefore this I say, and testify in the Lord, ^(AI)that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the ^(AJ)futility of their mind, ¹⁸ being ^(AK)darkened in their mind, ^(AL)alienated from the life of God because of the ^(AM)ignorance that is in them, because of the ^(AN)hardness of their heart. ¹⁹ And they, having ^(AO)become callous, ^(AP)have given themselves over to ^(AQ)sensuality ^[k]for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness. ²⁰ But you did not ^(AR)learn ^[l]Christ in this way— ²¹ if indeed you ^(AS)heard Him and were ^(AT)taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus, ^22 [m]to ^(AU)lay aside, in reference to your former conduct, the ^(AV)old man, which is being corrupted in accordance with the ^(AW)lusts of deceit, ²³ and to be ^(AX)renewed in the spirit of your mind, ²⁴ and to ^(AY)put on the ^(AZ)new man, which ^[n](BA)in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

²⁵ Therefore, ^(BB)laying aside falsehood, ^(BC)speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are ^(BD)members of one another. ^26 (BE)Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, ²⁷ and do not ^(BF)give the devil ^[o]an opportunity. ²⁸ He who steals must steal no longer, but rather ^(BG)he must labor, ^(BH)performing with his own hands what is good, ^(BI)so that he will have something to share with ^[p]one who has need. ²⁹ Let no ^[q](BJ)unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for ^(BK)building up ^[r]what is needed, so that it will give grace to those who hear. ^30 (BL)And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, ^[s]by whom you were ^(BM)sealed for the day of redemption. ^31 (BN)Let all bitterness and anger and wrath and shouting and slander be ^(BO)put away from you, along with all ^(BP)malice. ^32 (BQ)Instead, be kind to one another, tender-hearted, graciously forgiving each other, ^(BR)just as God in Christ also has graciously forgiven ^[t]you.

⁴ God also testifying with them, both by ^(A)signs and wonders and by ^(B)various ^[a]miracles and by ^[b](C)gifts of the Holy Spirit ^(D)according to His own will.
