Romans 13:5-7
New English Translation
5 Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of the wrath of the authorities[a] but also because of your conscience.[b] 6 For this reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities[c] are God’s servants devoted to governing.[d] 7 Pay everyone what is owed: taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.

5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.(A)
6 This is also why you pay taxes,(B) for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. 7 Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes;(C) if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
