15 For the law produces wrath, but where there is no law, neither is there transgression. 16 Because of this, it is by faith, in order that it may be according to grace, so that the promise may be secure to all the descendants, not only to those of the law, but also to those of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all 17 (just as it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations”)[a] before God, in whom he believed, the one who makes the dead alive and who calls the things that are not as though they are,

Romans 4:15-17
New International Version
15 because the law brings wrath.(A) And where there is no law there is no transgression.(B)
16 Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace(C) and may be guaranteed(D) to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.(E) 17 As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.”[a](F) He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life(G) to the dead and calls(H) into being things that were not.(I)
