² We have also obtained access through him^(A) by faith^[a] into this grace in which we stand,^(B) and we boast^[b] in the hope of the glory of God. ³ And not only that,^(C) but we also boast in our afflictions,^(D) because we know that affliction produces endurance,^{(E) 4} endurance produces proven character,^(F) and proven character produces hope.
