Romans 9:29-31

²⁹And, as Isaiah hath said before,

^[a]Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed,
We had become as Sodom, and had been made like unto Gomorrah.

³⁰What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who followed not after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith: ³¹but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law.

²⁹It is just as Isaiah said previously:

“Unless the Lord Almighty^(A)
had left us descendants,
we would have become like Sodom,
we would have been like Gomorrah.”^[a]^(B)

Israel’s Unbelief

³⁰What then shall we say?^(C) That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;^(D) ³¹but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness,^(E) have not attained their goal.^(F)
