I said, “Certainly you will fear me. You will accept correction so that your dwelling place will not be destroyed by everything I have threatened.” But they eagerly sinned in everything they did. So wait for me, declares the Lord, until the day that I rise up to plunder. For I am determined to gather the nations, to assemble the kingdoms, and to pour out my indignation upon them and all my furious anger. All the earth will be consumed with the fire of my zeal.

I will purify the lips of the people so that they all call on the name of the Lord and serve him side by side.

Of Jerusalem I thought,

Then her place of refuge[a] would not be destroyed,
    nor all my punishments come upon[b] her.
But they were still eager
    to act corruptly(B) in all they did.
Therefore wait(C) for me,”
    declares the Lord,
    “for the day I will stand up to testify.[c]
I have decided to assemble(D) the nations,(E)
    to gather the kingdoms
and to pour out my wrath(F) on them—
    all my fierce anger.(G)
The whole world will be consumed(H)
    by the fire of my jealous anger.
