Multiple examples of different methods for Scripture memorization are included, along with an example of how to memorize a book of the Bible.
Simply Charlotte Mason Scripture Memory System by Charlotte Mason
Charlotte Mason’s organizational system for Scripture memorization is great for individuals, families, or small groups. Through consistent repetition, you continue to learn new verses while going back and reviewing old ones. Simple but effective, this is an easy and organized method to start memorizing Scripture quickly.
G. T. and the Halo Express
There are numerous resources available of Scripture put to song; G. T. and the Halo Express is an excellent example of what is available. The Halo Express website offers several CDs of Scripture put to music. It is specifically geared toward helping kids interact with and memorize Scripture.
19 Memory Verse Games by Tony Kummer
Tony Kummer has created a set of 19 different games that help with the discipline of Scripture memorization. This resource also provides video examples for some of the games. While the games are intended for children, these games can definitely help anyone with Scripture memorization in a fun way!
Bible Audio App from Bible Gateway
Using the Bible App from BibleGateway is an excellent way to memorize Scripture. BibleGateway Content Manager, Jonathan Petersen, explains the features of the app and provides a link to download the app to your phone. This resource is especially helpful for memorizing Scripture while you are on the go.
“Verses”—Scripture Memorization App
“Verses” is a Scripture memory app helpful for both the beginner as well as the seminary graduate. The Verses app helps its users memorize Scripture through six different exercises and games of varying difficulties. Verses tracks your progress as you memorize. A feature of this app is that you can see your friends’ progress memorizing, allowing you to both encourage them and hold them accountable as you memorize Scripture together. The Verses app is free to download.
Scripture Memory Fellowship
Scripture Memory Fellowship provides comprehensive and effective answers for explaining the importance of memorizing Scripture. It has created great resources to improve anyone in this practice and is an especially good resource for parents wanting to raise their kids with the indispensable practice of Scripture memorization.

Topical Memory System by the Navigators
The Navigators are an evangelism and discipleship training organization with a rich history of helping people memorize Scripture. This book will get you started in the Navigator memory system. The Navigators provide a second book, Topical Memory System: Life Issues, that provides resources and memory verse cards on various life issues such as anger, dealing with sin, sex, stress, guilt, self-image, suffering, perfectionism, money, depression, knowing God’s will, and love.
His Word in My Heart: Memorizing Scripture for a Closer Walk with God by Janet Pope
Janet Pope recognizes the busyness of life and gives practical ways to carve out time for Scripture memorization. The book strongly emphasizes the idea that not only does Scripture act as a mirror and teach us about ourselves, but it is also the best resource to pursue and maintain a close, personal relationship with God. Pope recommends memorizing whole passages instead of just isolated, topical verses. Everyone can profit from this practical book, regardless of spiritual maturity level.
Scripture by Heart: Devotional Practices for Memorizing God’s Word by Joshua Kang
Each chapter in Kang’s book shows the benefits of Scripture memorization by centering on a spiritual theme. Helpful, inspiring, and informative, each chapter also offers a thematic memory verse to give the reader something to begin practicing immediately. Themes include parenting, wisdom, desiring the Word, living in faith, overcoming temptations, prevailing through spiritual discipline, and many more. This book also contains several “practice” sections in which the author gives the readers practical ways to develop the discipline of Scripture memorization. Easy to understand and steeped in Scripture, this book is a great choice for those just beginning to memorize Scripture.
