but David went back and forth from Saul to tend his father’s flock at Bethlehem.

He took care of his father's sheep, and he went back and forth between Bethlehem and Saul's camp.
But David went and returned from Saul to feed his father's sheep at Bethlehem.
David went, and returned from Saul, to feed his father's flock at Bethlehem.
but David left Saul from time to time to take care of his father’s sheep at Bethlehem.
David would sometimes leave Saul and go back home to Bethlehem. He did that to take care of his father's sheep.
During this time David went back and forth from Saul to take care of his father’s sheep at Bethlehem.
but David went back and forth from Saul to feed his father's sheep at Bethlehem.
but David went back and forth from Saul to feed his father's sheep at Bethlehem.
but David went back and forth from Saul to Bethlehem, where he took care of his father’s sheep.
David also went, but he returned from Saul to feed his father’s sheep in Bethlehem.

David would go back to Bethlehem from time to time, to take care of his father's sheep.

But David went back and forth from Saul to Bethlehem. There he took care of his father’s sheep.
And David would go back and forth from Saul to tend his father’s sheep in Bethlehem.
But David had gone and returned from being with Saul to feed his father’s sheep in Bethlehem.

David was the youngest son and was on Saul’s staff on a part-time basis. He went back and forth to Bethlehem to help his father with the sheep.
Enter David. He was the son of Jesse the Ephrathite from Bethlehem in Judah. Jesse, the father of eight sons, was himself too old to join Saul’s army. Jesse’s three oldest sons had followed Saul to war. The names of the three sons who had joined up with Saul were Eliab, the firstborn; next, Abinadab; and third, Shammah. David was the youngest son. While his three oldest brothers went to war with Saul, David went back and forth from attending to Saul to tending his father’s sheep in Bethlehem.

David went back and forth from Saul’s camp to Bethlehem, where he tended his father’s flock.
David would come and go from Saul’s presence to tend his father’s sheep at Bethlehem.

David went back and forth to Saul in order to tend to his father’s sheep in Bethlehem.

Now David would go back and forth from Saul to tending his father’s sheep by Beth-lehem.
he went back and forth between Saul’s battle and his father’s sheep in Bethlehem taking provisions to the troops and bringing word from the front line.
Now David went back and forth from Saul to feed his father’s sheep at Bethlehem.
David went, and turned again from Saul, that he should keep the flock of his father in Bethlehem. (David returned home from Saul, so that he could care for his father’s flock in Bethlehem.)
and David is going and returning from Saul, to feed the flock of his father at Beth-Lehem.
