Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

Now at that time Herod [Agrippa I] the king [of the Jews] arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to harm them.
About that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to afflict and oppress and torment some who belonged to the church (assembly).
Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.
About that time King Herod violently attacked some who belonged to the church,
About that time King Herod began to harass some who belonged to the church.
It was around this time that King Herod began arresting and persecuting certain members of the Messianic community;
At that time King Herod caused terrible suffering for some members of the church.
At that time Herod the king laid his hands on some of those of the assembly to do them hurt,
And about that time, Herod the king put hands on some of the ones from the church to mistreat them.
And at the same time, Herod the king stretched forth his hands, to afflict some of the church.
During this same time, King Herod began to do harm to some of those who were part of the church.
At that time, King Herod took hold of some of the group of believers in Jerusalem. He wanted to cause them to suffer.
At about that time, King Herod laid violent hands on some who belonged to the church, in order to mistreat them.
About that time Herod the king laid violent hands on some who belonged to the church.

During that same time King Herod [C Agrippa I, who lived 10 bcad 44; he was the grandson of Herod the Great (Luke 1:5)] ·began to mistreat [L laid hands on to harm/do evil to] some who belonged to the church.
Herod killeth James with the sword,  4 And imprisoneth Peter, 8 whom the Angel delivereth. 20 Herod being offended with them of Tyrus, 21 is pacified: 22 And taking the honor due to God, to himself, 23 he is eaten with worms , and so dieth. Now about that time, Herod the king stretched forth his hand to vex certain of the Church,
About that time King Herod devoted his attention to mistreating certain members of the church.
About this time King Herod began to persecute some members of the church.
About that time King Herod cruelly attacked some who belonged to the church,
During that same time King Herod began to do terrible things to some who belonged to the church.
About that time, Herod arrested some people who belonged to the church and mistreated them.
It was at this time that King Herod laid violent hands on some of the Church members. James, John’s brother, he executed with the sword, and when he found this action pleased the Jews he went on to arrest Peter as well. It was during the days of unleavened bread that he actually made the arrest. He put Peter in prison with no less than four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending to bring him out to the people after the Passover. So Peter was closely guarded in the prison, while the Church prayed to God earnestly on his behalf.
¶ Now at that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to mistreat certain of the congregation. {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}

About that time King Herod moved against some of the believers
That’s when King Herod got it into his head to go after some of the church members. He murdered James, John’s brother. When he saw how much it raised his popularity ratings with the Jews, he arrested Peter—all this during Passover Week, mind you—and had him thrown in jail, putting four squads of four soldiers each to guard him. He was planning a public lynching after Passover.
About that time King Herod extended his hands to harm certain ones from the church.

It was about this period of time that King Herod persecuted certain members of the Church.

At that time King Herod used his power to make it hard for the Christians in the church.
About that time King Herod Agrippa began to persecute some believers in the church.

About that time King Herod laid violent hands upon some who belonged to the church.

Around that time, King Herod began to use violence towards some members of the church.
Now during that time Herod the king laid his hands on Moshiach’s Kehillah to harm some of them.
Now about that time, Herod the King stretched forth his hand to afflict some of the church,
About that time Herod the king laid violent hands upon some who belonged to the church.

Now at that time Herod the king seized some from Messiah’s community to do them harm.
Back in Jerusalem, hard times came to the disciples. King Herod violently seized some who belonged to the church with the intention of mistreating them.
Now about that time, King Herod stretched out his hands to oppress some of the assembly.
) At that time Herod the king caught some of the church people and troubled them.
And in the same time Herod the king sent power, to torment some men of the church.
And about that time, Herod the king put forth his hands, to do evil to certain of those of the assembly,
