Ephesians 4:8
Print
Therefore He saith, “When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.”
Wherefore he saith, When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, And gave gifts unto men.
Therefore it says, “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And He bestowed gifts on men.”
Therefore it is said, When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive [He led a train of vanquished foes] and He bestowed gifts on men.
Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
For it says: When he ascended on high, he took the captives captive; he gave gifts to people.
That’s why scripture says, When he climbed up to the heights, he captured prisoners, and he gave gifts to people.
This is why it says, “After he went up into the heights, he led captivity captive and he gave gifts to mankind.”
As the Scriptures say, “When he went up to the highest place, he led away many prisoners and gave gifts to people.”
Wherefore he says, Having ascended up on high, he has led captivity captive, and has given gifts to men.
For this reason it says, “having ascended to on-high, He led captivity captive, He gave gifts to people” [Ps 68:18].
Wherefore he saith: Ascending on high, he led captivity captive; he gave gifts to men.
That is why the Scriptures say, “He went up high into the sky; he took prisoners with him, and he gave gifts to people.”
This is what it says about him: ‘When he went up to the highest place, he led many prisoners with him. Then he gave gifts to his people.’
That is why it says, “When he ascended on high, he took captivity captive and gave gifts to his people.”
Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.”
Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.”
That is why it says in the Scriptures, “When he ·went up [ascended] to the heights, he ·led a parade of captives [or took captives into captivity], and he gave gifts to people [Ps. 68:18].”
Wherefore he saith, When he ascended upon high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
That’s why the Scriptures say: “When he went to the highest place, he took captive those who had captured us and gave gifts to people.”
As the scripture says, “When he went up to the very heights, he took many captives with him; he gave gifts to people.”
For it says: When He ascended on high, He took prisoners into captivity; He gave gifts to people.
That is why it says in the Scriptures, “When he went up to the heights, he led a parade of captives. And he gave gifts to people.” Psalm 68:18
That is why God says, “When he went up to the highest place, he led captives into captivity and gave gifts to people.”
Naturally there are different gifts and functions; individually grace is given to us in different ways out of the rich diversity of Christ’s giving. As the scripture says: ‘When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men’.
Therefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive and gave gifts unto men.
Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
Therefore it says, “When He ascended on high, He led captive a host of captives, And He gave gifts to men.”
Therefore it says, “Ascending on high he led captivity captive; he gave gifts to men.”
The psalmist tells about this, for he says that when Christ returned triumphantly to heaven after his resurrection and victory over Satan, he gave generous gifts to men.
But that doesn’t mean you should all look and speak and act the same. Out of the generosity of Christ, each of us is given his own gift. The text for this is, He climbed the high mountain, He captured the enemy and seized the plunder, He handed it all out in gifts to the people. Is it not true that the One who climbed up also climbed down, down to the valley of earth? And the One who climbed down is the One who climbed back up, up to highest heaven. He handed out gifts above and below, filled heaven with his gifts, filled earth with his gifts. He handed out gifts of apostle, prophet, evangelist, and pastor-teacher to train Christ’s followers in skilled servant work, working within Christ’s body, the church, until we’re all moving rhythmically and easily with each other, efficient and graceful in response to God’s Son, fully mature adults, fully developed within and without, fully alive like Christ.
Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.”
Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he led a host of prisoners captive; he gave gifts to men.”
That’s why the Scriptures say: “When he went to the highest place, he took captive those who had captured us and gave gifts to people.”
Therefore, it says: “He ascended on high and took prisoners captive; he gave gifts to men.”
Therefore it says, “When He ascended on high, He led captive the captives, And He gave gifts to people.”
Therefore it says, “When He ascended on high, He led captive a host of captives, And He gave gifts to men.”
Therefore, it is written, “When he ascended to the heights, he took prisoners into captivity and gave gifts to men.”
That is why it says in the Scriptures, “When he went up to the heights, he led a parade of captives, and he gave gifts to people.” Psalm 68:18
Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he captured captives; he gave gifts to men.”
That is why Scripture says, “When he went up to his place on high, he took many prisoners. He gave gifts to his people.” (Psalm 68:18)
This is why it says: “When he ascended on high, he took many captives and gave gifts to his people.”
This is why it says: ‘When he ascended on high, he took many captives and gave gifts to his people.’
Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.”
The Holy Writings say, “When Christ went up to heaven, He took those who were held with Him. He gave gifts to men.”
That is why the Scriptures say, “When he ascended to the heights, he led a crowd of captives and gave gifts to his people.”
Therefore he says: He ascended up on high, and has led captivity captive, and has given gifts to men.
Therefore it is said, ‘When he ascended on high he made captivity itself a captive; he gave gifts to his people.’
Therefore it is said, ‘When he ascended on high he made captivity itself a captive; he gave gifts to his people.’
Therefore it is said, “When he ascended on high he made captivity itself a captive; he gave gifts to his people.”
Therefore it is said, “When he ascended on high, he made captivity itself a captive; he gave gifts to his people.”
That’s why it says, When he went up on high he led bondage itself into bondage and he gave gifts to people.
Therefore it says, ALITA LAMMAROM SHAVITA SHEVI LAKACHTA MATANOT ("You ascended to the height, you led captive, you received gifts" TEHILLIM 68:19 [18]), He has led captive a host of captives, He had brought matanot (gifts) to Bnei Adam.
Therefore it says, “When He ascended upon high, He captured captivity, and gave gifts to man.
Therefore it is said, “When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.”
Therefore it is said, “When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.”
Therefore it says, “When He went up on high, He led captive a troop of captives and gave gifts to his people.”
as the Scripture says, When He ascended to the heights, He put captivity in chains; And in His triumph, He gave gifts to the people.
Therefore he says, “When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to people.”Psalm 68:18
So then, the holy writings say, `When Christ went up to heaven he took those he had won with him. And he gave gifts to men.'
for which thing he saith, He ascending on high, led captivity captive, he gave gifts to men.
wherefore, he saith, `Having gone up on high he led captive captivity, and gave gifts to men,' --
