“Israel was holy [something set apart from ordinary purposes, consecrated] to the Lord, The first fruits of His harvest [in which no outsider was allowed to share]. All who ate of it [injuring Israel] became guilty; Evil came on them,” says the Lord.’”
Israel was holiness [something set apart from ordinary purposes, dedicated] to the Lord, the firstfruits of His harvest [of which no stranger was allowed to partake]; all who ate of it [injuring Israel] offended and became guilty; evil came upon them, says the Lord.
The people of Israel were a holy gift to the Lord. They were the first fruit he gathered. Any people who tried to hurt them were judged guilty. Bad things happened to those wicked people.’” This message is from the Lord.
The people of Israel were holy to the Lord, like the firstfruits from his harvest [C both belonged to God; Ex. 23:19; Lev. 23:10–14; Num. 18:12–13; Deut. 26:1–11]. Those who tried to ·hurt Israel [L consume it] were judged guilty. ·Disasters [Troubles] ·struck [L came to] them,’” says the Lord.
God’s Message came to me. It went like this: “Get out in the streets and call to Jerusalem, ‘God’s Message! I remember your youthful loyalty, our love as newlyweds. You stayed with me through the wilderness years, stuck with me through all the hard places. Israel was God’s holy choice, the pick of the crop. Anyone who laid a hand on her would soon wish he hadn’t!’” God’s Decree.
In those days, you, Israel, were set apart for Me, the Eternal. You were like the first portions of the harvest—devoted and true. All who defied this arrangement and ate My portion for themselves were guilty, and evil rained down upon them.”
Israel was holy to the Lord, the first of fruits of him; men that devour that Israel, trespass; evils shall come on them, saith the Lord. (Israel was holy to the Lord, his first fruits; all who devour that Israel, trespass, or greatly sin; evils shall come upon them, saith the Lord.)
