“Because ye have said, ‘The Lord hath raised us up prophets in Babylon’—
Because ye have said, Jehovah hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;
“Because you [who have remained in Jerusalem] have said, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,’
[But as for those still in Jerusalem] because you have said, The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,
¶ Because ye have said, The Lord hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;
You have said, “The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon!”
Yet you say, The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon:
“You say that Adonai has raised up prophets for you in Bavel.
You feel secure, because you think I have sent prophets to speak for me in Babylonia.
If ye say, Jehovah hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;
Because you have said: The Lord hath raised us up prophets in Babylon:
You people might say, “But the Lord has given us prophets here in Babylon.”
You may say, ‘The Lord has chosen prophets to bring his message to us here in Babylon.’
Because you say, “The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,”
“Because you have said, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,’
“Because you have said, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon’,
You might say, “The Lord has ·given [raised up/established/confirmed for; Deut. 18:18] us prophets here in Babylon.”
Because ye have said, The Lord hath raised us up Prophets in Babel.
You’ve said that the Lord has given you prophets in Babylon.
“You say that the Lord has given you prophets in Babylonia.
You have said, “The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon!”
You might say, “The Lord has given us prophets here in Babylon.”
“Indeed, you have said, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon.’
¶ But ye have said, The LORD has raised us up prophets in Babylon;
Because ye have said, The Lord hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;
Because ye have said, The Lord hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;
“Because you have said, ‘Yahweh has raised up prophets for us in Babylon’—
Because you have said, ‘Yahweh has raised up prophets for us in Babylon’—
But now, because you accept the false prophets among you and say the Lord has sent them,
“But for right now, because you’ve taken up with these new-fangled prophets who set themselves up as ‘Babylonian specialists,’ spreading the word ‘God sent them just for us!’ God is setting the record straight: As for the king still sitting on David’s throne and all the people left in Jerusalem who didn’t go into exile with you, they’re facing bad times. God-of-the-Angel-Armies says, ‘Watch this! Catastrophe is on the way: war, hunger, disease! They’re a barrel of rotten apples. I’ll rid the country of them through war and hunger and disease. The whole world is going to hold its nose at the smell, shut its eyes at the horrible sight. They’ll end up in slum ghettos because they wouldn’t listen to a thing I said when I sent my servant-prophets preaching tirelessly and urgently. No, they wouldn’t listen to a word I said.’” God’s Decree.
Because you have said, “The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,”
You’ve said that Yahweh has given you prophets in Babylon.
As for your saying, “The Lord has raised up for us prophets here in Babylon”—
“Because you have said, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon’—
“Because you have said, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon’—
You have said that the Lord has raised up prophets for you in Babylon.
You might say, “The Lord has given us prophets here in Babylon.”
“You say, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets of good news for us here in Babylon.’
You might say, “The Lord has given us prophets in Babylon.”
You may say, “The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,”
You may say, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,’
Because you have said, “The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon”—
“You have said that the Lord has given men who speak for Him in Babylon.
You claim that the Lord has raised up prophets for you in Babylon.
Because you have said, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon’—
Because you have said, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon’—
Because you have said, “The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,”—
Because you have said, “The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,”
Because ye have said, Hashem hath raised up nevi’im for us in Bavel;
“Because you have said, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,’—
“Because you have said, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,’—
For you have said: “Adonai has raised up prophets for us in Babylon.”
Now you might say, “The Eternal has raised up prophets here in Babylon who tell us other things.”
Because you have said, “Yahweh has raised us up prophets in Babylon;”
For ye said, The Lord shall raise (up) prophets to us in Babylon. (For ye said, The Lord hath raised up prophets for us in Babylon.)
