But oh, that God would speak and open His lips against thee,

I wish that God would speak, would open his mouth to answer you,

I wish God would answer you and tell you that you are wrong.
So God himself should answer you. He should tell you what he thinks.
Oh how I wish that God would speak up, open his lips against you,

I wish God would speak and open his ·lips [L mouth] against you
But, oh that God would speak and open his lips against thee!
I only wish God would speak and open his mouth ⌞to talk⌟ to you.
How I wish God would answer you!
But if only God would speak and declare His case against you,
I wish God would speak. I wish he would open his lips to speak against you.
“But what if God were to speak? What if he were to talk with you,
But oh, that God would speak and open his lips against thee
But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;
But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;
But would that God might speak, And open His lips against you,
But, O that God might speak, and that he would open his lips to you,
Oh, that God would speak and tell you what he thinks!
Now it was the turn of Zophar from Naamath: “What a flood of words! Shouldn’t we put a stop to it? Should this kind of loose talk be permitted? Job, do you think you can carry on like this and we’ll say nothing? That we’ll let you rail and mock and not step in? You claim, ‘My doctrine is sound and my conduct impeccable.’ How I wish God would give you a piece of his mind, tell you what’s what! I wish he’d show you how wisdom looks from the inside, for true wisdom is mostly ‘inside.’ But you can be sure of this, you haven’t gotten half of what you deserve.
But oh, that God would speak and open His lips against you,
I only wish Eloah would speak and open his mouth to talk to you.
But oh, that God would speak, and open his lips against you,
But if only God would speak, And open His lips against you,
“But would that God might speak, And open His lips against you,
Oh, how I wish that God would speak and open his lips to contradict your opinions
I wish God would speak and open his lips against you
But if only God would speak, if only he would open his lips against you,
I wish God would speak. I wish he’d answer you.
Oh, how I wish that God would speak, that he would open his lips against you
