He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
He keepeth back his soul from the pit, And his life from perishing by the sword.
He holds back his soul from the pit [of destruction], And his life from passing over into Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead).
He holds him back from the pit [of destruction], and his life from perishing by the sword [of God’s destructive judgments].
He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
God spares his soul from the Pit, his life from crossing the river of death.
He keeps one from the pit, a life from perishing by the sword.
so that he will keep himself away from the pit and from perishing by the sword.
and to protect us from being swept away to the world of the dead.
He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from passing away by the sword.
Rescuing his soul from corruption: and his life from passing to the sword.
He does this to save them from death. He wants to keep them from being destroyed.
He keeps people safe from death, so that they do not go to their graves.
He spares his life from the pit. He spares his life from crossing the stream of death.
he keeps back his soul from the pit, his life from perishing by the sword.

God does this to ·save people [L keep them] from ·death [L the Pit; C a reference to the grave and the underworld], to keep them from ·dying [L the water channel; C another reference to the grave and the underworld].
And keep back his soul from the pit, and that his life should not pass by the sword.
He keeps their souls from the pit and their lives from crossing the River ⌞of Death⌟.
He will not let them be destroyed; he saves them from death itself.
God spares his soul from the Pit, his life from crossing the river of death.
God does this to save a man’s soul from death. He does it to keep him from dying.
sparing his soul from the Pit and his life from violent death.
Thus he keeps back his soul from the pit and his life from perishing by the sword.
He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.

He holds back his soul from the pit, And his life from passing over to death by a weapon.
He spares his life from the pit and his life from passing over the river of death.
causing them to change their minds, and keeping them from pride, and warning them of the penalties of sin, and keeping them from falling into some trap.
“In a dream, for instance, a vision at night, when men and women are deep in sleep, fast asleep in their beds— God opens their ears and impresses them with warnings To turn them back from something bad they’re planning, from some reckless choice, And keep them from an early grave, from the river of no return.

He keeps his soul back from the pit, And his life from perishing by the spear.
He keeps back his soul from the pit, And his life from passing over into Sheol.

God does this to save people from death, to keep them from dying.

He wants to stop them from going down into the grave. He doesn’t want them to be killed by swords.
to preserve them from the pit, their lives from perishing by the sword.

He keeps his soul from going to the place of the dead. And He keeps his life from being destroyed by the sword.
He protects them from the grave, from crossing over the river of death.
to spare their souls from the Pit, their lives from traversing the River.

He keepeth back his nefesh from the shachat, and his life from the overthrow of the sword.

He does all of this so that He might hold back one soul from the pit and protect one life from passing over to the land of death.

and that he deliver his soul from corruption, and his life, that it go not into sword. (and so that he deliver his soul from corruption, and that he die not by the sword.)
