But when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not sound an alarm.

When the assembly is to be gathered, you shall blow [the trumpets in short, sharp tones], but without sounding an alarm.

When calling the assembly together, you are to sound long blasts, not short ones.
To gather the assembly, blow a long blast, not a series of short blasts.
However, when the community is to be assembled, you are to sound; but don’t sound an alarm.
But when you want everyone to come together, sound a different signal on the trumpet.
And when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not blow an alarm:
But when the people is to be gathered together, the sound of the trumpets shall be plain, and they shall not make a broken sound.
But if you want to gather the people together for a special meeting, blow the trumpets in a different way—blow a long steady blast on the trumpets.
But when you want everyone to meet together, make a different sound with the trumpet.
When the community is to gather, you will blow the trumpets, but you will not sound the signal for setting out.
But when the assembly is to be gathered together, you shall blow a long blast, but you shall not sound an alarm.

“Different trumpet blasts will be necessary to distinguish between the summons to assemble and the signal to break camp and move onward. When the travel signal is blown, the tribes camped on the east side of the Tabernacle shall leave first; at the second signal, the tribes on the south shall go.
“When a bugle gives a single, short blast, that’s the signal for the leaders, the heads of the clans, to assemble. When it gives a long blast, that’s the signal to march. At the first blast the tribes who were camped on the east set out. At the second blast the camps on the south set out. The long blasts are the signals to march. The bugle call that gathers the assembly is different from the signal to march.
But when the assembly is to be gathered together, you will blow, but you will not sound an alarm.

To gather the whole national community, you are to sound the sustained blasts, but not the short blasts.
But when you only want to gather the people together (not to break camp), simply blow the normal sound.
But when the assembly is to be gathered together, you shall blow, but you shall not sound an alarm.
Forsooth when the people shall be gathered together, (a) simple cry of trumps shall be, and the trumps shall not sound partingly. (And when the people should gather together, there shall be a simple cry of the trumpets, and they shall not sound separately.)
