³⁷ Then Eliakim son of Hilkiah, who was in charge of the palace, Shebna the court secretary, and Joah son of Asaph, the court historian,^(A) came to Hezekiah with their clothes torn^(B) and reported to him the words of the Rabshakeh.

Hezekiah Seeks Isaiah’s Counsel

19 When King Hezekiah heard their report, he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth,^(C) and went into the Lord’s temple.^{(D) 2} Then he sent Eliakim, who was in charge of the palace, Shebna the court secretary,^(E) and the leading priests, who were wearing sackcloth,^(F) to the prophet Isaiah^(G) son of Amoz.

Nehemiah’s Prayer

⁴ When I heard these words, I sat down and wept. I mourned for a number of days, fasting and praying^(A) before the God of heaven.^(B)

³ So I turned my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and petitions, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.^(A)
