⁶¹ The Lord will also afflict you with every sickness and plague not recorded in the book of this law, until you are destroyed.

⁹ They taught throughout Judah, having the book of the Lord’s instruction with them.^(A) They went throughout the towns of Judah and taught the people.

⁴ However, he did not put their children to death, because—as it is written in the Law, in the book of Moses,^(A) where the Lord commanded—“Fathers must not die because of children, and children must not die because of fathers, but each one will die for his own sin.”^(B)

The Recovery of the Book of the Law

¹⁴ When they brought out the money that had been deposited in the Lord’s temple, Hilkiah the priest found the book of the law of the Lord written by the hand of Moses.^{(A) 15} Consequently,^(B) Hilkiah told Shaphan the court secretary, “I have found the book of the law in the Lord’s temple,” and he gave the book to Shaphan.
