Jesus Before Pilate

^11 (A)Now Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor questioned Him, saying, “Are You the ^(B)King of the Jews?” And Jesus said to him, “^(C)You yourself say it.” ¹² And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, ^(D)He did not answer. ¹³ Then Pilate *said to Him, “Do You not hear how many things they testify against You?” ¹⁴ And ^(E)He did not answer him with regard to even a single ^[a]charge, so the governor marveled greatly.

^2 (A)And Pilate questioned Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” And He answered him and *said, “You yourself say it.” ³ And the chief priests began to accuse Him of many things. ⁴ Then Pilate was questioning Him again, saying, “You answer nothing? See how many accusations they bring against You!” ⁵ But Jesus ^(B)made no further answer; so Pilate marveled.

^2 (A)And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this man ^(B)misleading our nation and ^(C)forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, and saying that He Himself is ^[a]Christ, a King.” ³ So Pilate asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?” And He answered him and said, “^(D)You yourself say it.”

^29 (A)Therefore Pilate went out to them and *said, “What accusation do you bring against this man?” ³⁰ They answered and said to him, “If this man were not an evildoer, we would not have delivered Him to you.” ³¹ So Pilate said to them, “Take Him yourselves, and judge Him according to your law.” The Jews said to him, “It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death,” ³² in order that ^(B)the word of Jesus which He spoke would be fulfilled, signifying by what kind of death He was about to die.

³³ Therefore Pilate ^(C)entered again into the Praetorium, and summoned Jesus and said to Him, “^(D)Are You the King of the Jews?” ³⁴ Jesus answered, “Are you saying this from yourself, or did others tell you about Me?” ³⁵ Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered You to me; what did You do?” ³⁶ Jesus answered, “^(E)My kingdom ^[a]is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be delivered over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not ^[b]from here.” ³⁷ Therefore Pilate said to Him, “So You are a king?” Jesus answered, “^(F)You yourself said I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, ^(G)to bear witness to the truth. ^(H)Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” ³⁸ Pilate *said to Him, “What is truth?”

And when he had said this, he ^(I)went out again to the Jews and *said to them, “^(J)I find no guilt in Him.
