2 Corinthians 8:8
Print
I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forthcoming of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.
I speak not by way of commandment, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity also of your love.
I am not saying this as a command [to dictate to you], but to prove, by [pointing out] the enthusiasm of others, the sincerity of your love as well.
I give this not as an order [to dictate to you], but to prove, by [pointing out] the zeal of others, the sincerity of your [own] love also.
I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.
I am not saying this as a command. Rather, by means of the diligence of others, I am testing the genuineness of your love.
I’m not giving an order, but by mentioning the commitment of others, I’m trying to prove the authenticity of your love also.
I am not issuing an order; rather, I am testing the genuineness of your love against the diligence of others.
I am not ordering you to do this. I am simply testing how real your love is by comparing it with the concern that others have shown.
I do not speak as commanding [it], but through the zeal of others, and proving the genuineness of your love.
I am not speaking by way of command, but am proving through the earnestness of others the genuineness of your love also.
I speak not as commanding; but by the carefulness of others, approving also the good disposition of your charity.
I am not ordering you to give, but I want to see how real your love is by comparing you with others who have been so ready and willing to help.
I am not telling you that you must do this. I have told you how much other believers want to give their money. In that way, I want to see if you really love other people who need your help.
I do not say this as a command, but to test how genuine your love is, by comparing it with the eagerness of others.
I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine.
I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine.
I am not commanding you to give. But I want to ·see [test; prove] if your love is true by comparing you with ·others that really want to help [L the zeal/eagerness of others].
This say I not by commandment, but because of the diligence of others: therefore prove I the naturalness of your love.
I’m not commanding you, but I’m testing how genuine your love is by pointing out the dedication of others.
I am not laying down any rules. But by showing how eager others are to help, I am trying to find out how real your own love is.
I am not saying this as a command. Rather, by means of the diligence of others, I am testing the genuineness of your love.
I am not commanding you to give. But I want to see if your love is true love. I do this by showing you that others really want to help.
I am not commanding you but testing the genuineness of your love by the enthusiasm of others.
Now this had made us ask Titus, who has already done so much among you, to complete his task by arranging for you too to share in this work of generosity. Already you are well to the fore in every good quality—you have faith, you can express that faith in words; you have knowledge, enthusiasm and your love for us. Could you not add generosity to your virtues? I don’t want you to read this as an order. It is only my suggestion, prompted by what I have seen in others of eagerness to help, and here is a way to prove the reality of your love. Do you remember the generosity of Jesus Christ, the Lord of us all? He was rich beyond our telling, yet he became poor for your sakes so that his poverty might make you rich.
I speak not as commanding, but by occasion of the diligence of others and to prove the sincerity of your charity.
I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.
I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.
I am not speaking this as a command, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity of your love also.
I am not saying this as a command, but proving the genuineness of your love by means of the diligence of others.
I am not giving you an order; I am not saying you must do it, but others are eager for it. This is one way to prove that your love is real, that it goes beyond mere words.
I’m not trying to order you around against your will. But by bringing in the Macedonians’ enthusiasm as a stimulus to your love, I am hoping to bring the best out of you. You are familiar with the generosity of our Master, Jesus Christ. Rich as he was, he gave it all away for us—in one stroke he became poor and we became rich.
I say this not as a command, but to prove through the authenticity of others, the sincerity also of your love.
I am not saying this as an order, but as a way of testing the genuineness of your love by comparison with the eagerness of others. ·
I’m not commanding you, but I’m testing how genuine your love is by pointing out the dedication of others.

I am not saying this as a command, but as proving, through the earnestness of others, the sincerity of your love as well.
I am not speaking this as a command, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity of your love also.
I am not saying this to you as a command, but rather I am testing the genuine character of your love by the concern you show for others.
I am not commanding you to give. But I want to see if your love is true by comparing you with others that really want to help.
I am not saying this as a command, but I am testing the genuineness of your love by comparison with the eagerness of others.
I am not commanding you to do it. But I want to test you. I want to find out if you really love God. I want to compare your love with that of others.
I am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others.
I am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others.
I speak not by commandment, but I am testing the sincerity of your love by the diligence of others.
I am not saying that you must do this, but I have told you how others have helped. This is a way to prove how true your love is.
I am not commanding you to do this. But I am testing how genuine your love is by comparing it with the eagerness of the other churches.
I say this, not as commanding, but, seeing others are so fervent, to prove your love also, whether it be perfect or no.
I do not say this as a command, but I am testing the genuineness of your love against the earnestness of others.
I do not say this as a command, but I am testing the genuineness of your love against the earnestness of others.
I do not say this as a command, but I am testing the genuineness of your love against the earnestness of others.
I do not say this as a command, but I am, by mentioning the eagerness of others, testing the genuineness of your love.
I’m not saying this as though I was issuing an order. It’s a matter of putting their enthusiasm and your own love side by side, and making sure you genuinely pass the test.
I do not lay this out as a mitzvah, but the sincerity of your ahavah I am testing against the zerizut of others,
This I say not by commandment, but because of the diligence of others. Therefore, I prove the sincerity of your love.
I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine.

I am saying this not as a command, but I am trying to prove by the diligence of others the genuineness of your love as well.
I am not going to command you, but I am going to offer you the chance to prove your love genuine in the same way others have done.
I speak not by way of commandment, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity also of your love.
I am not saying that you must do it. But I want to prove how strong your love is. That is why I have told you how other people show their love.
I say not as commanding, but by the busyness of other men proving also the good wit of your charity.
not according to command do I speak, but because of the diligence of others, and of your love proving the genuineness,
