Ecclesiastes 5:14
Print
But those riches perish by evil travail; and when he begetteth a son, there is nothing in his hand.
and those riches perish by evil adventure; and if he hath begotten a son, there is nothing in his hand.
For when those riches are lost in bad investments and he becomes the father of a son, then there is nothing in his hand [for the support of the child].
But those riches are lost in a bad venture; and he becomes the father of a son, and there is nothing in his hand [with which to support the child].
But those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, and there is nothing in his hand.
That wealth was lost in a bad venture, so when he fathered a son, he was empty-handed.
Then that wealth is lost in a bad business venture so that when they have children, they are left with nothing.
Just as he came from his mother’s womb, so he will go back naked as he came, and for his efforts he will take nothing that he can carry away in his hand.
Suddenly they lose everything in a bad business deal, then have nothing to leave for their children.
or those riches perish by some evil circumstance, and if he have begotten a son, there is nothing in his hand.
As he came forth naked from his mother's womb, so shall he return, and shall take nothing away with him of his labour.
Then something bad happens and they lose everything. So they have nothing to give to their children.
Something may happen in the future that causes their money to disappear. After they die, no money remains for their children.
or wealth that is lost in a bad investment. Or a man fathers a son, but he has nothing left in his hand to give him.
and those riches were lost in a bad venture. And he is father of a son, but he has nothing in his hand.
and those riches were lost in a bad venture. And he is father of a son, but he has nothing in his hand.
They lose ·it all [L that wealth] in a ·bad deal [evil/bad situation] and have nothing to give to their children.
As he came forth of his mother’s belly, he shall return naked to go as he came, and shall bear away nothing of his labor, which he hath caused to pass by his hand.
These hoarded riches were then lost in bad business deals. The owners had children, but now they have nothing to give them.
and then lose it all in some bad deal and end up with nothing left to pass on to their children.
That wealth was lost in a bad venture, so when he fathered a son, he was empty-handed.
Then he loses it all in a bad deal. So he has nothing to give to his son.
and that wealth is lost in troubled circumstances. Then a son is born, but there is nothing left for him.
which are lost by evil pursuits and to the sons which he has begotten; there is nothing left in his hand.
But those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, and there is nothing in his hand.
But those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, and there is nothing in his hand.
And those riches were lost through a bad endeavor; and he became the father of a son, but there was nothing in his hand for him.
That wealth was lost in a bad venture. Although he has borne a child, he has nothing to leave to him.
There is another serious problem I have seen everywhere—savings are put into risky investments that turn sour, and soon there is nothing left to pass on to one’s son.
Here’s a piece of bad luck I’ve seen happen: A man hoards far more wealth than is good for him And then loses it all in a bad business deal. He fathered a child but hasn’t a cent left to give him. He arrived naked from the womb of his mother; He’ll leave in the same condition—with nothing. This is bad luck, for sure—naked he came, naked he went. So what was the point of working for a salary of smoke? All for a miserable life spent in the dark?
and those riches were lost in a misfortunate business deal; and although he has a son, there is nothing at all to put in his hand.
These hoarded riches were then lost in bad business deals. The owners had children, but now they have nothing to give them.
As they came forth from their mother’s womb, so again shall they return, naked as they came, having nothing from their toil to bring with them.
When that wealth was lost through bad business and he had fathered a son, then there was nothing to support him.
When those riches were lost through a bad investment and he had fathered a son, then there was nothing to support him.
Just as he came forth naked from his mother’s womb, so shall he depart, naked as he came, with nothing remaining from his labor that he can carry away in his hands.
They lose it all in a bad deal and have nothing to give to their children.
Then that wealth was lost through bad luck; although he fathered a son, he has nothing left to give him.
It’s also when wealth is lost because of an unwise business deal. Then there won’t be anything left for the owners’ children.
or wealth lost through some misfortune, so that when they have children there is nothing left for them to inherit.
or wealth lost through some misfortune, so that when they have children there is nothing left for them to inherit.
But those riches perish through misfortune; When he begets a son, there is nothing in his hand.
When those riches are lost because he used them in a wrong way, and he had become the father of a son, there was nothing left for him.
Money is put into risky investments that turn sour, and everything is lost. In the end, there is nothing left to pass on to one’s children.
and those riches were lost in a bad venture; though they are parents of children, they have nothing in their hands.
and those riches were lost in a bad venture; though they are parents of children, they have nothing in their hands.
and those riches were lost in a bad venture; though they are parents of children, they have nothing in their hands.
and those riches were lost in a bad venture; though they are parents of children, they have nothing in their hands.
The same osher (riches) perish by an evil event and he begetteth a ben; thus this one hath nothing in his hand.
and those riches were lost in a bad venture; and he is father of a son, but he has nothing in his hand.
and those riches were lost in a bad venture; and he is father of a son, but he has nothing in his hand.
As he came from his mother’s womb, naked he will return as he came. He takes nothing from his labor that he can carry in his hand.
Such riches can easily vanish through some misfortune, so that the rich have nothing left to pass along to their children.
Those riches perish by misfortune, and if he has fathered a son, there is nothing in his hand.
For they perish in the worst torment; (and) he begat a son, that shall be in sovereign neediness. (And then those riches be lost in a terrible calamity; and so he hath begotten a son, who shall be left in great neediness.)
And that wealth hath been lost in an evil business, and he hath begotten a son and there is nothing in his hand!
