An idol? A craftsman pours it, a metalworker covers it with gold, and fashions silver chains.
An image made by a craftsman, which a goldsmith overlays with gold, for which he then casts silver chains?
Is an idol at all like God? It is made of bronze with a thin layer of gold, and decorated with silver.
The workman casteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains [for it].
Hath the workman cast a graven statue? or hath the goldsmith formed it with gold, or the silversmith with plates of silver?
No, but some people make statues from rock or wood, and they call them gods. One worker makes a statue. Then another worker covers it with gold and makes silver chains for it.
A worker may use special skill to make an idol. Another worker may cover it with gold. He may use silver chains to make it beautiful.

With an idol? An idol made from a mold, overlaid with gold, and with silver chains around its neck?
So who even comes close to being like God? To whom or what can you compare him? Some no-god idol? Ridiculous! It’s made in a workshop, cast in bronze, Given a thin veneer of gold, and draped with silver filigree. Or, perhaps someone will select a fine wood— olive wood, say—that won’t rot, Then hire a woodcarver to make a no-god, giving special care to its base so it won’t tip over!
The workman melts a graven image, and the goldsmith spreads it over with gold, and casts silver chains.
Craftsmen make idols. Goldsmiths cover them with gold. Silversmiths make silver chains for them.
